WHO AM I?

I am a Southwest Philly Girl who’s found her second home in both New York City and Paris.

I am a Creative in the Arts. It’s my Jam. It’s my rhythm. It’s my pulse.

When I was 16 years old in Philadelphia, I did my first community play. I didn’t know what a “aHa! moment” was at that age, but I did know within an instant the trajectory of my life had been changed forever. I quickly discovered that being an Actor was a purpose I needed to see through. So I went to work.

In my pursuit of the Arts, I’ve performed in many accredited play productions, print modeling, national television commercials and an Emmy Award winning American soap opera. The Arts has blessed me with the opportunity to collaborate with inspiring casts and crews in vibrate cities such as Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C.

I have received written praise for my portrayal of the character “Mother” in Kia Corthron’s Breathe, Boom at the Signature Theater in Washington, D.C. I was nominated for Best Lead Actress for the award winning production of “Goliath” by Takeo Rivera at the Robert Moss Theater in New York City. And I recently made history by winning second place for a Dramatic Monologue in the first Virtual Monologue Slam in New York City.

Aside from creating, my absolute favorite thing to do is travel the world. I seek out the art and backstory in everything, which never fails to keep me inspired. A few life-changing experiences have been witnessing the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the wildlife and landscapes of Kenya. Standing in the presence of Michelangelo’s complete brilliance, that is the sculpture of “David” in Florence, Italy. And having the most perfect cup of hot chocolate you can imagine at Angelina’s in Paris, France. Each a magnificent display of love and art. And that’s what what I live for.

With a growing family, I took a break from acting but have now returned. However, not as I left. I have since enrolled and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. And I was honored to be assigned for my final graduation performance the lead role of “Mama Nadi” in the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Ruined” by Lynn Nottage.

So, who am I?

I am a student of human nature. Endlessly seeking the commonalities of all people within myself and others. I am an Artist…empathetic, colorful, moving and free. But most importantly, I am your next favorite storyteller. Let’s create something beautiful,

Monique
